Effective, Simple, High Quality Water Treatment

When to change your filters

How bad your water is and how much water is filtered affect how often you will need to change your ICS cartridge kit. Typically your ICS filter system will require a filter change every 9 months to a maximum of 1 year (1 year is most typical).

We recommend keeping a spare filter kit (contains all the filters for your ICS system) on hand at all times. By keeping records of when you change filters you will develop a history that will guide you as to when it is time to change the filters in your particular system.

How long a PolyHalt®cartridge will last before needing replacement depends upon how much water you use and other things. Three things:

1: We have a PolyHalt® test kit you can use to verify when you need to change your filter system with PolyHalt®. It is time to change your PolyHalt® filter when test results indicate there is less than 6 parts per million PolyHalt® in your conditioned water.

2: You can do a simple soap test to determine if there is still adequate PolyHalt® in your water. The soap test compares the amount of soap suds that form in the untreated water to the treated water.

To perform a soap test:

a. Get two clean 16 oz. (about 16 oz.) water bottles with lids.
b. Fill one half full with untreated water and one half full with PolyHalt® treated water.
c. Add 1 drop of liquid dish soap to each and cap tightly.
d. Vigorously shake both bottles then set side by side and compare the amount of soap suds.

If the treated water forms much denser suds and fills or nearly fills the bottle with suds your PolyHalt® cartridge system is working.

If the two bottle have nearly the same amount of suds it is time to replace your PolyHalt® system cartridge(s).

3: Each installation will be different. If you do not have a PolyHalt® test kit, as a rule of thumb your PolyHalt®cartridge lasts 12 months. You will know it is time to replace the cartridge when the problems start recurring. Replace on a regular basis, keep a spare cartridge ready at all times and order replacements when you use them.

You will know it is time to change filters when;

  1. You notice a significant pressure drop / reduced flow
  2. Bad taste returns
  3. Deposits return
  4. Odors return
  5. Staining returns
  6. Your PolyHalt® test results indicate there is less than 6 parts per million PolyHalt® in your conditioned water.
  7. The soap test produces the same amount of suds in the treated and untreated samples.

  5. S5 – Sediment filtration down to 5 microns.
Clears water of sediment and solids and protects downstream treatment and appliances.

  6. SP – Sediment with PolyHalt® and PolyCor Technology. Treates iron, manganese, hardness, etching, pipe and appliance protection.
Clears water of sediment and solids and protects downstream treatment and appliances. With PolyCor technology the filter also prevents iron, manganese and hardness minerals from depositing and sticking to fixtures and it protects plumbing and fixtures from silica etching and corrosion and low pH (acid) conditions by forming a thin protective coating on the surface.

  7. TP - Taste and odor with PolyHalt® and PolyCor Technology. Treates iron, manganese, hardness, etching, pipe and appliance protection.
Designed for water with minimal sediment needing taste and odor improvement. Filter one is designed to improve taste and odor and remove chlorine. Filter two Prevents iron, manganese and hardness minerals from depositing and sticking to fixtures. Protects plumbing and fixtures from silica etching and corrosion. Protects plumbing and fixtures from low pH (acid) conditions by forming a thin protective coating on the surface.

Double Filter Solutions

  1. SIP - Sediment, Soluble Iron with PolyHalt®and PolyCor Technology. Treates iron, manganese, hardness, etching, pipe and appliance protection.
Filter one clears water of sediment and solids. Filter two removes iron and manganese ,and with PolyCor technology prevents iron, manganese and hardness minerals from depositing and sticking to fixtures. Filter two also protects plumbing and fixtures from silica etching and corrosion and low pH (acid) conditions by forming a thin protective coating on the surface.

  2. ST – Sediment, taste and odor.

  4. TO – Taste and odor.
Two different activated carbon filters to improve taste and odor.

Triple Filter Solutions

As of 2014 we no longer build several ICS systems. We still build and sell filter replacement kits just not the systems.

ICS Systems No Longer Available Include: ICS-SI, ICS-SS51, and ICS-SS75

Furthermore:

In 2014 we renamed the ICS-PWC06 and ICS-PWC12 to ICS-STP. This was done to keep our ICS product names consistent. The replacement cartridge kit for the old "PWC" part numbers is now ICS-STPK and is two filters instead of three. When replacing simply place filters 1 and 2 in their respective housings and leave the last housing empty.
